Welcome on board!

15 September 2013

Yes, it's true. It's already September, a new school year has begun. It is also a special time for our company - as every year we welcomed our youngest employees - students of vocational classes. It is already the eighth inauguration of the school year in Volkswagen Poznan.

Unique inauguration. This year's ceremony was held on September 6 in the Pilot Organization Department. It was unique because it gathered over 300 participants. Why so many? Mainly because this year Volkswagen Poznan decided to once again expand its offer addressed to middle school students: apart from already existing classes training future mechatronics technicians, car mechanics, and car electro-mechanics, we created classes for foundry machines and equipment operators and industrial automation and precision equipment mechanics.
There are 95 first year students and a total number of students is 160.

The inauguration was attended by, among others: Member of Parliament in the Polish Sejm - Ms. Krystyna Łybacka, Member of Parliament in the Polish Sejm - Mr Tadeusz Dziuba, Poznan Staroste - Mr Jan Grabkowski, Poznan Vice-Staroste - Mr Tomasz Łubinski, the Principal of the School Complex No. 1 in Swarzedz - Przemysław Jankiewicz as well as Management Board, Board of Directors and other representatives of VWP. Of course, the most important persons were students and their parents.

Welcome day for new employees

The main ceremony was preceded by a press conference attended by the most important guests, media, and Management Board of VWP. The official part started with a speech of the Human Resources Board Member – Ms. Jolanta Musielak, who welcomed all participants. Then, the Chairman of the VW Poznan Management Board - Mr Michael Kleiß addressed a few words to first grade students who were given contracts of employment for young employees. Next speech was given by Poznan Staroste - Mr Jan Grabkowski who gave students some advice for the next 3 years. Another part of the ceremony was held by Ms. Jolanta Musielak who briefly described the possibilities of employment after graduation and invited two of this year's graduates of the mechatronics class - Wiktor Kania and Patryk Piaseczny - to share their views. There were some questions asked and both Wiktor and Patryk answered them with great enthusiasm and a sense of humour. At the end, 14 of this year's graduates were provided with contracts of employment. The contracts were given by: Production Manager – Ms. Kerstin Fahrenfeld-Etzmuss and Foundry Manager - Mr Jarosław Kurosz.

We wish all first year students much perseverance in this difficult time and plenty of success and we hope that in three years they will stand at this very stage as graduates!
