We support PUT Motorsport!

05 September 2014

PUT Motorsport is a group of 40 students divided into 8 project groups from 4 faculties at Poznan University of Technology that will represent the university in a renowned automotive competition organised by the Institute of Engineering Mechanics (IMechE).

The competition jury assesses not only technical aspects but also a coherent business concept and presentation for potential customers.

On 29.07- 03.08, thanks to kindness and support of Volkswagen Poznan, representatives of the Poznan team took part in the Formula Student competition on the F1 track in Hockenheim, Germany.

The competition lasted five days during which F1 cars underwent tests and teams presented their business projects.  The participants competed in two categories - vehicles with combustion engines and vehicles with electric engines.

The first day was a day of technical controls during which the competitors performed tilt, brake and noise tests. Those who failed at controls had a chance to repeat them the following day. The next day, teams with electrical vehicles competed in static competitions including: cost analysis, design and business presentation. The same competition for combustion engine cars took place the following day. That is when teams could compete in the Skid Pad competition, testing cars' adhesion on a wet surface and lateral acceleration. On the fourth day the competitors had to prove themselves in Autocross competition and pass acceleration tests. The most difficult task, endurance test - was the fifth competition that took place on the fifth and final day.

The trip gave students a chance to gain knowledge they will be able to try when implementing their own projects. They could feel the sports atmosphere and observe other teams which enthusiastically shared their knowledge and passion, answering all questions with patience.
