Saturday morning was filled with sporting fun and competition for members of the Volkswagen Poznan Handball Academy. For the first time at the Academy, which was launched in November last year, both the female and male players had a chance to test themselves during a match in a full size sports hall. The test tournaments in which they regularly participate, are played in primary school gyms, where training classes are held. Running on a floor with dimensions of 40 x 20 metres did not however consume the energy for expressing joy for each goal scored. The goalkeepers had slightly less work this time, but even they had the chance to show off their spectacular saves.
During the matches numerous supporters gathered in the stands – and the most valuable – the parents, grandparents of the handballers. And they even had a chance to try their hand on the playing floor. Ladies tried to hit the goal crossbar, while the gentlemen in turn had to join forces with precision and hit the net from a distance of 20 metres. The best received Erima balls, which were signed by AZS AWF Volkswagen Poznan players.
In the girls category the biggest cup was won by event guests AZS AWF Jezyce Poznan. The boys category was won by Academy representatives from Wilda and Antoninek.
„Sport has this characteristic, that one becomes the winner and the other leaves the playing floor defeated. Today, however, every one of your is a winner in our eyes! Because everyone left their heart on the playing floor! We are proud of you all!” – emphasized accordingly the Poznan university students that cared for the young athletes.
After Saturday’s games, however, there is little time to rest. On Monday the „team” from Swarzedz will meet for training, and on Tuesday another test tournament – this time at Primary School No.5 in Wilda.
