Volkswagen Poznań receives a double award from the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency

20 December 2014

For the eighth time, the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency has awarded prizes for the most important investors of the past year. This year, two out of three prizes were awarded to Volkswagen Poznań.

For the eighth time now, the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) has awarded the most important investors who decided to locate capital in Poland during the past year. The awards are given in three main categories: “Investment value”, “Employment” and “New Technologies”. In this year’s editions, the competition board also awarded special prizes for overall activities as well as a distinction for a Polish investor. This year, the prize in two of the three main categories went to Volkswagen Poznań. The Poznań company won in the categories “Investment Value” and “Employment” in connection with the construction of the new factory in Białężyce near Września. In the new plant, where the new-generation Volkswagen Crafter will be manufactured beginning in the second half of 2016, 3,000 people will be employed. This investment by Volkswagen will also lead to the creation of new jobs at suppliers. The first phase of construction of the factory is now under way. The prizes were presented by Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy Mariusz Haładyj (in the category “Largest Investment by Value”) and Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy Marek Bucior (in the category “Employment”) to Member of the Management Board of Volkswagen Poznań for Finance and Organisation, Szymon Trzebiatowski.

“It is a great honour to accept on behalf of Volkswagen Poland another prestigious award connected with our crowning investment in Września. I remind you that on 16 October 2014, President Ocksen accepted an award for the largest direct foreign investor in Poland in the years 2013-2014 in the category of Best German or Austrian Investor. I’m very happy that the size and significance of that investment are viewed so positively, and that the activities of our Company stand out on the national and regional scale. I fully share the opinion of President Sławomir Majman, that Poland’s success as a country in attracting new investments is largely due to our Polish human capital. In the case of the new Volkswagen project in Poland as well, the experience and outstanding results of the team from Poznań were of vital importance when the Volkswagen concern was deciding where to locate its investment,” stated Szymon Trzebiatowski after receiving the award.

Since the beginning of the year, the PAIiIZ has concluded 50 investment projects creating 30,000 jobs. As at mid-December, the value of projects concluded with the participation of the PAIiIZ was twice as high as in the previous year, totalling more than 1.8 billion euros.
