Volkswagen Poznań honoured as Friendly Employer

30 April 2016

Volkswagen Poznań has been included among the winners of the “Employee-friendly Employer” competition. On Wednesday, 20 April, the Management Board of Volkswagen Poznań accepted certificates as an “Employee-friendly Employer” from the hands of Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, and Piotr Duda, Chairman of the National Commission of the Solidarity Trade Union. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace.

This is a very valuable award for us,” says Jolanta Musielak, Member of the Management Board for Personnel. “The first time we got this prize was in 2011. The fact that after five years we are again among the winners shows how hard work over the years, based on dialogue and consistent implementation of the strategy of the best employer brings results.”

The aim of the competition is to promote employers which distinguish themselves by how they apply good practices within the scope of complying with the provisions of labour law, in particular through stable employment, observing health and safety regulations and the rights of employees to form trade unions. Candidates are nominated by basic organisational units of Solidarity.

In this way we want to show that good cooperation based on partnership between trade unions and an employer is possible,” emphasises Piotr Olbryś, head of Solidarity at Volkswagen Poznań. “And this distinction is the culmination of that cooperation.

There were 21 companies from throughout Poland representing various industries among this year’s winners. What they share is respect for employee rights and that they conduct a social dialogue at their work establishments.

The prizewinners can use the certificate “Employee-friendly Employer” for the next three years.
