The daily newspaper Rzeczpospolita has given out awards to the best exporters in Poland. Volkswagen Poznań took second place in the category “Stable Export Leader”.

The choice of the best exporters in Poland was made by businesses themselves. Almost 500 of the largest of these names their favourites in 3 categories: Stable Export Leader, Most Dynamic Foreign Market Entry, and Most Innovative Exporter. The editors of Rzeczpospolita compiled a list of 130 nominated companies, though the list was open-ended. Each company taking part could also name another company which in its opinion deserved recognition.

Volkswagen Poznań took second place in the category “Stable Export Leader”. The Poznań plant produced various versions of the Volkswagen Caddy and Volkswagen Transporter models, which are sent to customers around the world. Last year, 175,000 cars and 3.3 million aluminium components were manufactured there. Construction is currently under way on a new production plant in Białężyce near Września. In the second half of next year, production will begin there of the new version of the Volkswagen Crafter. The factory, which will employ almost 3,000 people, has a target production volume of as many as 100,000 vehicles per year.
