Eco fun with Volkswagen

10 February 2014

"Eco fun with Volkswagen" is the title of a project designed by the Poznan Old Town ZHP Scout Troop "Piast", the winner of the Volkswagen Poznan “Blue Grants” competition. For a period of one year, the scouts will receive a Volkswagen Caddy manufactured in Poznan to use free of charge during project implementation. Within the framework of the project the scouts will conduct eco driving training, "Water" and "Forest" field workshops, and water quality examination of the Warta River. Recipients of the activities will include individual scout groups as well as pupils from primary schools in Poznan and Swarzedz. “As soon as we heard about the Volkswagen ecological initiative we decided to try it ourselves and it worked out. And the car is really great” - says Janusz Błaszczyk from the Scout Troop "Piast" who will be responsible for implementation of the project - We are glad to be the winners of the competition.

The "Blue Grants" programme aimed at increasing environmental awareness of residents of Wielkopolska was initiated by Volkswagen Poznan in cooperation with Our Earth Foundation in 2012. It is addressed to non-governmental organizations, preschools, schools and employees of Volkswagen Poznan. During the 1st edition of the programme grants were designated for construction of an ecological square near a school, installation of bird feeders, and creation of melliferous plants garden in Swarzedz. The winners are selected by a jury consisting of representatives of Poznan City Hall, Swarzedz Town Hall, employees, and trade unions of Volkswagen Poznan - results and attendance during the 2nd edition of the competition (35 applications were received) prove that there are many originators of interesting ecological initiatives. I can already guarantee that in April we are going to launch the 3rd edition of the programme - says Monika Hajbowicz from Volkswagen Poznan.
