20 February 2019

The construction of the jubilee car took 2.5 days. At this time in the welding hall was constructing the bodywork of the car, which was then secured and painted in the body shop and assembled in the assembly hall.

Among the previously built 3 million cars since 1993 there are 16 models belonging to different Volkswagen brands. The Poznań factory was producing i.a. the following models: Skoda Felicia, Fabia, Octavia, Volkswagen Passat, Bora and Polo. After 2003 the facility in Poznań was converted into an independent car factory producing VW Caddy and VW Transporter models. The Poznań factory is the only place in the world where the Caddy and Transporter T6 models with the open cab on the frame are constructed from scratch.

Dietmar Mnich, the director of the facility in Poznań, said: “3-millionth car produced in Poznań is a great reason for pride for the entire 11.000 staff of Volkswagen Poznań and especially for workers from the facilities in Antoninek and Swarzędz, where the Caddy model is produced. The facility in Poznań is preparing for the new generations of vehicles. In January we have opened a logistics hall and first robots have already been installed in the new paint shop”
