Family Event, 20th anniversary of VWP

18 September 2013

On September 21, 2013, the Volkswagen Plant No. 1 in Antonitek hosted a Family Event organized on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Volkswagen Poznan. The event was addressed to all employees of Volkswagen Poznan and their families.

The family event is yet another event organized on the occasion of the anniversary of Volkswagen Poznan that was held under the following motto: "People. Plant. City. 20 Years of Common History".

During the Family Event the company divided the area into three symbolic zones reflecting the anniversary motto of VW Poznan: "People. Plant. City. 20 Years of Common History". Employees of VW Poznan had a chance to talk with the representatives of different organizations supported by the plant and familiarize themselves with the activities implemented by these organizations and aimed at promoting the city and its residents. The event was attended by representatives of Fundacja Wielkopolskie Wioślarstwo [Rowing Foundation], which collaborates with VW Poznan since the very beginning of its operations, i.e. since 2005. Other participants were the representatives of the „Deutsch-Wagen-Tour” project encouraging citizens of Poland to learn German. Our guests were also the representatives of AZS AWF Volkswagen Poznan, organizers of the Volkswagen Poznan Handball Academy.

The anniversary events that have taken place so far included a concert and a charity auction as well as a 3D multimedia show titled "People. Plant. City. 20 Years of Common History", projected on the building of the Great Theatre in Poznan. The main goal of the initiative was to invite the residents of Poznan to celebrate the anniversary of the Volkswagen Poznan plant, which is an important element of the city's economic landscape.

In the near future and within the framework of the anniversary the company plans to organize an open public debate titled: "People. Plant. City. Together or Apart?", which aims at determining the economic and culture-building role of industry in the city.
