1+1=3
1+1=3
Together we can do more!
"1+1=3 Together we can do more" programme was launched based on a desire to help people in need who reside in Wielkopolska region. Volkswagen Poznan is the largest employer of the region. It employs over 6000 who have a great power when brought together. Due to involvement of so many employees, who willingly provide financial support for those in need, we have been able to bring smiles to faces of people in care of different public benefit organisations for 4 years.
The programme constitutes the combination of corporate volunteering and public collection organised by a given foundation or organisation on the premises provided by Volkswagen Poznan.
What foundations do we support?
Within the framework of our programme we have been supporting organisations from Wielkopolska that are chosen by the plant's employees every year. During one edition we support only one foundation or association indicated by employees.
How do we support?
The employees of Volkswagen Poznan each year voluntarily join the programme and agree to have 1 PLN deducted from their monthly salaries. The amount is further transferred to an account of a foundation that received the majority of votes. This is the first "one" from our equation. The second "one" is a symbolic donation which can be made by all persons coming to the plant, its guests, business partners and visitors. And why the result of 1+1 is three and not, according to the mathematical formula, 2? Because it is the added value, a smile we receive in exchange for helping people in need.
1 PLN is not much but multiplied by a number of employees who join the programme and 12 months the action lasts it sums up to the amount that could "move the mountains".
Who did we support?
During 3 editions of 1+1=3 Programme organised under the slogan "Together we can do more" we managed to raise a total of 170,000.00 PLN. During the first edition we supported the Foundation Assisting Children with Cancer from Poznan, which was lucky also this year, in the edition ending in December 2013. In the second edition of the programme we cooperated with the Polish Association for Persons with Mental Handicap in Kolo and in the third edition, held in 2012, we supported the "I want my mum to be in hospital with me" programme organised by The Children's Organ Transplant Association.
To the rhythm of Genesis.
This year, the Volkswagen Poznan Plant celebrates its 20th anniversary. On this occasion, on 2 September, the Great Theatre in Poznan will host the première charity concert of Ray Wilson, accompanied by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. Income from the concert will be donated to the Foundation Assisting Children with Cancer in Poznan, supported during the current edition of the programme.
